4 Calorie-Saving Healthy Foods Swaps

Step away from that bagel...

You may feel guilty eating a bagel for breakfast, but instead of telling you to switch to oatmeal, we're going to give you another bread option instead.

In the video above by Ivanhoe Broadcast News, we learn four food swaps that are low in calories, but also stick within the same food groups. So for example, instead of having a bagel with cream cheese in the morning, swap if for a whole wheat English muffin.

According to the video, women on average eat around 1,800 to 2,400 calories per day. Health Canada suggests 1,800 calories (for people who are not physically active) to 2,500 calories (for people who are more active) for women between the ages of 31 to 50. But if you are trying to lose weight, cutting down your calorie intake or swapping your food options for healthier ones is one route to take.

As we've mentioned before, other great healthy food swaps include mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes, and almond milk for coconut milk, for example.

Watch the video above to find out how you can still get your ice cream — and keep it low-cal.
