Ottawa man to be charged with harassing Quebec shop workers

An Ottawa man has been arrested after Quebec provincial police allege he made more than a thousand harassing phone calls to women working in shops across Quebec.

The Sûreté du Quebec, working alongside local police in Longueuil, Que., investigated calls made to several shops in the communities of Gatineau, Terrebonne, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Repentigny and Brossard.

Police said the calls were to shops staffed by women and that a man made remarks of a sexual nature.

A 40-year-old Ottawa man was arrested on Wednesday.

Police say he is expected to appear in a Gatineau, Que., courtroom on Thursday to face thirty charges of criminal harassment.
