Highway 401 reopens after massive pileup

Highway 401 has reopened near Trenton, Ont. on Thursday after a massive 50-vehicle pileup closed a stretch of the busy highway yesterday.

The OPP said all lanes were running on the highway between County Roads 30 and 40 as of 6:30 a.m. — more than 24 hours after bad weather caused dozens of tractor trailers and cars to slam into each other.

Crews working on the cleanup were forced to take apart then tow away many of the tractor trailers that suffered heav damage in the pileup.

Only four people were injured in the crash, none of them seriously.
