Toronto Police update public on Malcolm Marfo homicide, link to 2nd shooting

Toronto police detectives updated the public about the city's latest homicide, a shooting death that's been linked to another shooting at the same west-end highrise on the same day.

Malcolm Marfo, 22, died in hospital two days after he was shot at an apartment building at 2063 Islington Ave., north of Dixon Road, on March 17.

Homicide Det. Sgt. Mike Patterson addressed reporters at police headquarters on Friday afternoon.

Patterson may also provide more information about another shooting that took place at the same building some five hours earlier.

Marfo was shot multiple times around 8:15 p.m., police said.

At 3:15 p.m., police said another man was shot but suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Police took the unusual step of identifying the second shooting victim as Ahmed Siyad, with the hopes of generating more information about the case.
