Canadian Robanske captures men's snowboardcross World Cup victory

LA MOLINA, Spain - Canadian Christopher Robanske ended his World Cup snowboardcross season on a high note Saturday.

The Calgary native won the men's event at the season-ending World Cup competition. American Alex Deibold finished second ahead of Australian Alex Pullin as Spain's Lucas Eguibar didn't make it past the quarter-finals but the 21-year-old still managed to secure the overall title.

"I cannot really put it into words," Robanske said. "I had a really hard season riding well but with some injuries.

"I woke up (Saturday) with a good mindset as everybody had the same conditions. I don't mind this weather they were having. I'm super happy for Lucas, who was on fire this year, and I'm really happy to get a good result."

France's Moenne Loccoz captured the women's overall crowns after finishing second in Saturday's race to compatriot Charlotte Bankes.

Riders faced heavy snow and gusting winds throughout the day.
