Train Carrying Potash Jumps The Tracks Near Wetaskiwin, Alta. (PHOTOS)


WETASKIWIN, Alta. - About 20 cars that were part of a CP Rail train hauling potash have derailed near Wetaskiwin, Alta.

CP Rail spokesman Jeremy Berry says in an email that it happened Sunday morning near Highway 13.

He says there were no reports of injuries and no dangerous goods were involved.

Pictures from the scene show potash spilling out onto the ground.

Potash is a common ingredient in fertilizer.

The train was headed west at the time.

Berry says the investigation into what caused the derailment is underway.

Wetaskiwin is located approximately 70 kilometres south of Edmonton.
