One of the best ways to look fresh this spring season is with a little (or a lot) of flower power. Blooms and petals burst forth on the spring 2015 runways, and this feminine look is one we can all pull off. Keep these style tips in mind and you’ll be sure to make your florals flourish.

When styling with a playful print like florals, here’s how to make it work without risking looking like a garden gone wrong.

<strong>Match your body type</strong>

The Right (And Wrong) Times To Wear Floral Prints

Match your body type

Consider your body type when choosing the florals you can rock. If you’re full-figured and curvy, you can more easily pull off a bolder pattern, whereas slender types can get away with daintier prints.

Maintain a limited colour palette

Stick to a colour palette for your floral outfit. Your floral look will look right for this season if you keep your entire look within a colour palette: if your floral top features yellow, green and white, try it with a coordinating green skirt and green handbag, for example.

Accessorize with restraint

Wear a graphic floral that’s eye-catching, but play down your accessories. If you’re in a dress in an attention-grabbing floral pattern, then go with neutral accessories so that they don’t detract from your dress. Alternatively, strut your stuff with the handbag and shoes in the same floral pattern to truly make it a head-to-toe statement.

Even just a key piece or two in a floral print will be great update to your wardrobe.

A floral handbag accent

Freshen up a monochrome outfit with a playful floral print on your handbag. Buying an affordable purse (you might not want to spend a bundle on since the floral trend may not work in all seasons) is a simple way to look current on a day to day basis.

The floral coat

Wear your blooms on your coat. Make any simple outfit a showstopper by investing in a bold, floral statement coat. It’s a playful piece that’ll make you look on point for the season.

Flowery shirtdresses

Sport your petals on a shirtdress. Shirtdresses are another big trend for the season and in a floral pattern, you’ll have a feminine look complete in one piece. Dress it down and making it edgier by throwing a motorcycle jacket on top, or dress it up for happy hour by changing into heels and changing your jewelry.

Walking on flowers

Deck out your feet in flowers. If you just don’t feel you can pull off a floral printed blouse or skirt, wearing the trend on your feet is an easy way to rock the trend without it feeling overly feminine or girly. Try it in a casual slip-on sneaker, ballet flat, or in a sandal.

If you have the confidence to pull it off, one of the most modern ways to wear florals is from head to toe.

Floral mixing and matching

Pair of different florals, but keep them within the same style. That is, a delicately intricate flower printed skirt can be worn with a similarly dainty floral patterned top, whereas a large, bold print (think Marimekko iconic Poppy, for example) will look best with something just as prominent.

Full-body floral

If you can’t wrap your head around on how to mix and match florals, the good news is that a matching ensemble, such as a floral pantsuit, is totally on trend when it comes to this spring’s floral looks.
