Another celebrity has joined the chorus of Bill Cosbyaccusations; this time, it's comedian and TV personality Chelsea Handler.
Handler even turned the act of being approached by Cosby into a verb, as in: he allegedly tried to "Cosby" her.
In an interview with Esquire magazine, Handler recounted an experience she had about 10 years ago.
Both Cosby and Handler were performing at the same Atlantic City hotel, and Handler alleges that Cosby tried to get her to go up to his room.
She said:
"Oh, I was in Atlantic City playing, doing stand-up, and he was doing stand-up in Atlantic City in the same hotel, and at like three o'clock in the afternoon, someone from the hotel came down and said, 'Oh, you know, Mr. Cosby would really like to meet you up in his hotel suite.' And I thought, that's really weird. This was like ten years ago. And I said, 'That's really weird. I don't want to go alone.' I go, I don't know him."
Handler says bringing an entourage with her is what kept her from getting Bill Cosbyed that day.
It's the first time Handler has been publicly critical of Cosby since several women have come forward to accuse him of drugging and sexually assaulting them, dating as far back as the late 1960s.
Cosby has denied all allegations and has not yet been officially charged with a crime, although some of his accusers are suing him in civil court. He has said little in public, except for a bizarre self-promotional video where he appeared in his pyjamas, promising "I'm not finished yet."
