QUEBEC - Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitao is promising the province's 2015-16 budget to be tabled today will contain no increases in taxes or fees.
Leitao is expected to introduce a balanced budget after several years of provincial deficits.
He says he thinks it will leave Quebecers generally happy.
The finance minister said Wednesday that getting rid of red ink is crucial to spurring economic growth in Quebec.
Premier Philippe Couillard's government has been on a cost-cutting drive since taking power last April.
That has angered various labour, social and student groups and triggered numerous anti-austerity protests aimed at forcing the government to backtrack.
