Brett Hickey nets hat trick as Rock clinch playoff spot in win over Roughnecks

CALGARY - Brett Hickey finished off a hat trick with a tiebreaking goal at 13:54 of the fourth quarter as the Toronto Rock clinched a post-season berth with a 12-10 win over the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday in National Lacrosse League action.

Josh Sanderson and Kasey Beirnes had a pair of goals each for the Rock (11-3). Brock Sorensen, Sandy Chapman, Stephan Leblanc, Brodie Merrill and Kevin Ross rounded out the attack.

Dane Dobbie scored four goals to lead Calgary (3-9). Jeff Shattler struck twice while Sean Pollock, Shawn Evans, Curtis Dickson and Karsen Leung had the others.

Nick Rose got the win, turning aside 41 shots. Frankie Scigliano made 42 saves for the Roughnecks.

Toronto had one goal on seven power-play opportunities. Calgary was 4 for 6 on the man advantage.
