Canadian women move up one spot into tie for No. 8 in new FIFA rankings

TORONTO - Canada has climbed one spot to No. 8 in the latest FIFA's women's soccer rankings.

The Canadian women moved into a tie with North Korea, which was replaced by Brazil at No. 7.

The top six remained unchanged with Germany on top, followed by the U.S., France, Japan, Sweden and England. Australia remained No. 10.

Canada will host the women's World Cup starting June 6, playing in a group with China, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

The Netherlands dropped one place to No. 12 in the new rankings while China slipped three rungs to No. 16 and New Zealand was up one spot at No. 17.
