Toronto teacher charged with child porn offences

Toronto police have charged a part-time teacher and tutor who taught at several Toronto schools with possessing child pornography.

Police said since 2002, the teacher worked occasionally at three Toronto District School Board schools — Earl Haig Secondary School, Northern Secondary School and Forest Hill Collegiate Institute — and also did some tutoring.

He’s accused of accessing child pornography, in both image and video form, and also authoring "child sexual abuse stories," police said.

Sex Crimes Unit investigators released the suspect’s name and said in a news release that they’re concerned there could be more victims.

Online, police said, the man went by the handle "coachperv."

Brian Mallette, 50, of Toronto faces three charges in total, two of possessing child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.

He appeared in court last Friday.

Anyone with more information about the case is asked to contact police.
