Canada defeats Kenya 26-10 to move on to quarter finals of Tokyo Sevens

TOKYO - Canada is moving on to the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Sevens after defeating Kenya 26-10 Saturday.It was a much needed win after two earlier loses for the Canadians on Day One on competition.Canada opened their pool campaign losing 29-7 to current World Series leaders South Africa, then fell 22-14 to the United States.But the win over Kenya gave Canada a stronger points difference over the latter two nations so they finished in second position.Ciaran Hearn opened the scoring for Canada inside a minute with a try, his first of two. Justin Douglas and Conor Trainor each added tries to help seal the victory.Earlier in the day, Seabelo Senatla scored three tries as South Africa beat Canada 29-7 in their opening match.In the next game Carlin Isles scored a hat trick as the United States handed Canada its second loss 22-14.Toronto's Lucas Hammond was carried off in the first half of that game after taking a hard hit to the head.
