Sweden beats Finland in 3-4 game to advance to world curling semi against Canada

HALIFAX - Sweden's Niklas Edin defeated Finland's Aku Kauste 7-4 in the Page playoff 3-4 game Saturday at the world men's curling championship at Scotiabank Centre.Edin, the 2013 world champion, will play Canada's Pat Simmons in the evening semifinal.The winner will advance to Sunday's gold-medal game against defending champion Thomas Ulsrud of Norway.The loser will play Finland for the bronze medal.Ulsrud has handed Canada its only losses of the competition. The first one came in round-robin play Tuesday and the other came in Friday's Page 1-2 game.Simmons has never won a world title. Canada finished fourth last year in Beijing.
