Jeff Callaway steps down as Wildrose president to run in Alberta election

CALGARY - The president of Alberta's Wildrose party is stepping down in order to run in the upcoming provincial election.

Jeff Callaway is going to carry the Wildrose flag in Calgary-Northwest.

The riding is currently held by Sandra Jansen of the Progressive Conservatives who won the seat in the 2012 election with almost 52 per cent of the vote.

Callaway says the Wildrose will run candidates in all of Alberta's 87 constituencies and the party has enough money to mount a strong campaign.

He says the big question voters will face is which party will form the official Opposition — the Wildrose or the NDP.

Premier Jim Prentice is expected to call a provincial election as early as Tuesday. (CFFR)
