Alberta Election Warm-Up Music Is A Nickelback Song Full Of Swears

Surely the Alberta PC government didn't mean to choose such terrible (and offensive) warm-up music for today's election announcement, did they?

Observers waiting for Alberta Premier Jim Prentice's election call on Tuesday morning were shocked to hear an unedited version of Nickelback's "Burn It To The Ground" blasting over the loudspeakers, moments before he took the stage.

Not only is Nickelback a polarizing band, even in their home province of Alberta, but what's more confusing is why the government would allow a song full of foul language on a broadcast available to TV and Internet livestream viewers.

Here are a few sample lyrics:

"That sh*t makes me bat-sh*t crazy. We've got no fear, no doubt, all in, balls out."

AND

"We got no class, no taste, no shirt, and sh*tfaced. We got it lined up, shot down, firing back, straight Crown."

It hardly seems appropriate for a major political event.

Twitter users took offense, calling out the poor song (and band) selection:
