TORONTO - The funeral for Canadian sprinter Daundre Barnaby will be held April 18 in Mississauga, Ont.
The 400-metre specialist from Brampton, Ont., died March 27 in a swimming accident at a national team training camp in St. Kitts. He was 24.
Barnaby, who competed for Canada at the 2012 London Olympics, was cooling off in the ocean with teammates after a training session when he apparently lost his footing and was dragged away by an undertow.
The funeral will take place at Praise Cathedral Worship Centre in Mississauga.
An online fundraiser hopes to raise $35,000 to support Barnaby's family.
