KELOWNA, B.C. - Despite blowing a three-goal lead, the Kelowna Rockets were able to come out on top Saturday night.
Tyson Baillie scored his second goal of the game 58 seconds into overtime as the Rockets beat the Victoria Royals 4-3 in their second-round Western Hockey League playoff series.
Kelowna now leads the best-of-seven matchup 2-0.
Baillie, Tomas Soustal and Gage Quinney opened the attack for the Rockets.
Brandon Magee would respond for Victoria with a pair of goals — including the equalizer at 18:26 of the third period. Alex Forsberg, on the power play, had the other.
Jackson Whistle got the win in goal after making 38 saves. Coleman Vollrath started for the Royals, but was replaced after kicking out 12-of-15 shots in 31:16. Justin Paulic went the rest of the way and made 11 saves.
Victoria's Greg Chase received a game misconduct at 18:44 of the first period to go along with a 10-minute misconduct.
Kelowna went 2 for 8 on the power play while the Royals scored twice on five chances.
The series shifts to Victoria for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
WHEAT KINGS 5 PATS 2
BRANDON, Man. — Ivan Provorov and Kale Clague each had a goal and an assist to lead the Wheat Kings past Regina in their second-round playoff matchup.
Jayce Hawryluk, Macoy Erkamps and Tyler Coulter rounded out the attack for Brandon, which holds a 2-0 series lead.
Colby Williams and Pavel Padakin scored for the Pats in the second period.
Regina's Sergey Zborovskiy was ejected at 16:25 of the third period after receiving a major for interference.
The Pats host Game 3 on Tuesday.
WINTERHAWKS 4 SILVERTIPS 3 (OT2)
EVERETT, Wash. — Oliver Bjorkstrand found the back of the net 29 seconds into double overtime as Portland evened its second-round playoff series at a game apiece with a win over the Silvertips.
Adam Henry, Chase De Leo and Blake Heinrich also scored for the Winterhawks, who host Game 3 on Thursday.
Montreal Canadiens prospect Nikita Scherbak struck twice for Everett in regulation, with Jake Mykituk adding the other.
