Poor parallel parking: man crashes vehicle into room at bank

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Authorities in southern Alberta say there will be no charges against a driver who crashed his vehicle into a bank while he was trying to park.

Police say the 85-year-old man hit the gas pedal rather than the brakes while he was trying to parallel park in downtown Lethbridge.

His vehicle went over the curb, knocked down a parking meter and sign post, crossed the sidewalk and jumped a cement barrier before crashing into a room at the TD Bank.

The room was being used at the time, but no one was hurt.

Police say they will bring the crash to the attention of Alberta Transportation's driver fitness and monitoring branch.
