This Is What Happens When Adults Attempt A Fifth Grade Spelling Bee

WATCH: Adults Try Spelling Like Fifth Graders

If you've ever stumbled while spelling words like Mediterranean or privilege, you certainly aren't alone.

In the above video from BuzzFeed, a group of employees attempt to spell words often taught in the fifth grade. And, well, it isn't pretty. Who knew fifth grade spelling was this hard? But before you start judging others, just remember how many times autocorrect has saved you in the last five years.

In 2012 a study in the U.K. looked at the impact of autocorrect on adults and found that while 96 per cent of people said spelling is important, most have to rely on spell check, while others cannot spell common words like "definitely" or "necessary" on their own.

So we're giving all the spellers in this video an A for effort, yes even the ones who might be feeling some embarrassment right now.

Watch the video above to see how the Buzzfeed employees did then tell us in the comments below which words you find difficult to spell.
