April 17 is the beginning of National Adoption Weekend and Pet Valu stores across Canada are hoping to raise money and find homes for 2,000 pets.
Plans to raise $1.5 million would go towards providing abused and abandoned animals with food and supplies and most importantly a home.
“100 per cent of the products and dollars raised are donated directly to pet charities, and money raised at our stores, stays in the local community,” explains Julie Johnston, VP Marketing & Merchandising, Pet Valu.
People can support the cause by visiting local Pet Valu stores and signing an official PAW donation card or by making a product donation to local charities.
This marks the fifth year of the annual event which has already raised 3.3 million dollars for local charities and found homes for more than 3,100 pets.
And if you're looking to expand your family by bringing in a new pet this adoption weekend, Toronto-based Cause 4 Paws has shared a few photos of precious pups looking for a place to call home below.
