"It is with great sadness that the Coquitlam RCMP advises that the six-year-old girl involved in the collision on Shaughnessy Street on April 19 succumbed to her injuries in a hospital earlier this morning," wrote RCMP in a release.
The SUV driver, a woman in her 40s, struck the girl and three others walking in a parking lot in front of a busy strip mall at Shaughnessy St. and Lions Way.
She had a learner's permit, and was following all conditions, including displaying a red "L" and having a supervisor in the front seat, said police.
Two others involved in the crash remain in hospital in a serious condition, while another has been released from hospital with minor injuries, according to Coquitlam RCMP.
The driver is co-operating with the investigation, said police.
