Versailles-Inspired Toronto Mansion Fails To Sell At Auction

But the home remains unfinished.

A lavish, yet unfinished Toronto mansion inspired by France's Palace of Versailles has failed to sell at auction for the second time.

The 27,000-square-foot Bridle Path home located at 40 Park Lane Circle now sits on the open market after it only managed to attract bids below its minimum reserve price, The Toronto Star reported.

The auction house, Concierge, shows the property as "available for offers."

Its sellers are undergoing a bankruptcy process.

The home, which requires as much as $1.5 million in repairs, according to the Star, was designed by architect Jacques Dinel with features such as Corinthian pillars, a grand ballroom, library and Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool.

The MLS listing for the property boasts its required repairs as an advantage, calling the home a "designer's dream, ready for details, fixtures and finishes chosen by you."

It had previously been listed for $23 million but it now sits on the market for just under $14 million.

Of course, the mansion is far from the only luxurious home that has failed to attract buyers in Canada.

But it is one of the nicer ones.
