Opening statement expected in trial of pair accused in Loretta Saunders case

HALIFAX - Two people charged in the death of a young Inuit woman will hear the case against them today in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.The trial of Blake Leggette and Victoria Henneberry started Monday with jury selection that ended late Tuesday.Judge Josh Arnold announced that 10 men and four women had been chosen to serve on the jury.It's expected the Crown will give its opening statement later today.Both Leggette and Henneberry have pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder of 26-year-old Loretta Saunders, a Labrador woman who was studying at Saint Mary's University in Halifax.Her body was found in a wooded area off a New Brunswick highway two weeks after she disappeared from her apartment in February 2014.
