CP NewsAlert: Chiarelli in, LaForge out, Lowe re-assigned in Oilers' shakeup

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers are making several front-office changes after another disappointing NHL season.Former Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is the team's new president of hockey operations and general manager.The team says Kevin Lowe will transition out of hockey operations but remain vice-chair of Oilers Entertainment Group.In addition, Patrick LaForge is stepping down as president and chief operating officer.It's not clear if former general manager Craig MacTavish will remain with the team.The moves come just days after Bob Nicholson was appointed chief executive officer of Oilers Entertainment Group and given authority over all aspects of business and hockey operations.The Oilers finished 28th in the 30-team league this season, but won the recent draft lottery and are expected to pick junior phenom Connor McDavid with the first overall pick.More coming.
