Omar Khadr to learn today if an Alberta judge will give him bail pending appeal

EDMONTON - An Alberta judge is expected to rule today on whether Omar Khadr can have bail.The former Guantanamo Bay inmate is seeking release pending an appeal against a conviction for war crimes in the United States.The Toronto-born Khadr, 28, is currently in prison in Innisfail, Alta.He is serving out an eight-year sentence handed down by a U.S. military commission in 2010.If the judge grants him bail, the two sides would still have to work out conditions of his release.Either side could also appeal the bail decision.
