Rice lineman Covington claims top spot on CFL Scouting Bureau prospects list

TORONTO - Rice University's Christian Covington moved into top spot in the CFL's final ranking list of the top 20 prospects eligible for the 2015 CFL Canadian Draft on Friday.

The defensive lineman from Vancouver announced his decision to forego his senior year of college in early January, making himself eligible for both CFL and NFL Drafts.

UNLV offensive lineman Brett Boyko of Saskatoon fell one spot to No. 2. University of Connecticut offensive lineman Alex Mateas of Ottawa, Yale running back Tyler Varga of Kitchener, Ont., and Laval offensive lineman Danny Groulx of Gatineau, Que., rounded out the top five.

The 2015 CFL Draft will take place on May 12. The Ottawa Redblacks have the first overall pick.

The CFL's Scouting Bureau is comprised of CFL scouts, player personnel directors and general managers from the league's nine teams.
