Jennifer Abel, Canadian diver, wins 2 silver medals

Jennifer Abel continued her sterling weekend at the 3rd FINA World Series event, winning two more silver medals in Kazan, Russia.

The Laval, Que. native currently sits 2nd overall in the series behind China's Tingmao Shi. Shi took gold in the women's three-metre event that Abel silvered in.

''I struggled a bit in the preliminaries but I didn't let that bother me,'' said Abel, with her second podium finish this season in the event.  ''I was diving at my maximum in the final but unfortunately I went over on my last which pushed me back a bit farther from first place.''

Abel and her partner François Imbeau-Dulac placed second in the mixed three-metre synchronized event behind frequent foes Han Wang and Hao Yang. The pair from China have won gold in all three World Series events so far.

''That was our personal best score so it augurs well for the world championships [this August in Kazan],'' said Abel.
