Surrey shooting, stabbing overnight investigated by RCMP

RCMP are investigating whether a shooting, stabbing and argument early Tuesday morning in Surrey, B.C., are related to each other, or possibly the ongoing gang-related violence in that city, according to a news release.

People living near 94 Ave. and 124 St. called police when they heard shots fired, people arguing and cars driving around erratically. Police found evidence of a shooting and an altercation.

At the same time, a man arrived at a nearby hospital with stab wounds to his upper body, wrote police.

"There is no evidence to indicate that they are related to the Surrey shootings at this point," wrote Sgt. Dale Carr.

However, it is early in the investigation and police will be examining any possible links between the incidents on Tuesday and ongoing gang violence in Surrey, which drew hundreds of people to a police-organized community forum last week.
