Highway 400 reopens after downed power line

A downed power line at Aurora Road closed all lanes of Highway 400 for a time Wednesday afternoon, but all lanes were eventually reopened.

The downed hydro line sparked a small fire on the nearby grass on the west side of the highway. But the fire was quickly put out as authorities reached the area. Hydro crews arrived on scene to see if the downed power line is still active, and determined it was safe to allow traffic through.

The power line was lying on the southbound lane of the highway. Police say it's not clear what caused it to come down.
