Report on city hall security during Rob Ford's tenure coming today

The city ombudsman is set to release a report this morning on security at city hall during former Mayor Rob Ford's time in office.

Fiona Crean began the investigation into allegedly inappropriate actions and behaviour on behalf of security after receiving multiple complaints from the public, the media and other city politicians.

The Toronto Star reported Wednesday that among the findings in the report are revelations that Ford used city hall security as private body guards and that at least one of them helped Ford hide his problems with substance abuse.

Further, Crean reviewed several occasions when security stood by and did nothing while Ford and his brother former Coun. Doug Ford berated members of the public in council chambers, according to the Star.

The report will be released at 9 a.m. and Mayor John Tory is also expected to respond to its findings at a press conference this afternoon.
