The "Happy Prince" has not yet met his new niece, but says "she is absolutely beautiful."
Prince Harry — who is currently stationed in Australia with the Australian Defence Force — will not be able to greet the new royal heir until completing his official tour of New Zealand, which Us Weekly reports runs until May 16. In spite of this distance, the 30-year-old issued a formal statement about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's daughter through the official Kensington Palace Twitter account.
This is a surprisingly simple statement from Prince Harry, who is known for his cheeky sense of humour. Back in 2013, shortly after Prince George's birth, he joked with reporters about the arrival of his nephew, saying, "I only hope my brother knows how expensive my babysitting charges are."
While a source tells People magazine the princess' name will not be released on Sunday, Prince William and Kate Middleton thanked everyone for the support they have received since Saturday's birth.
"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world," said the two, in a statement. "It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their new daughter."
The princess' grandparents are also quite excited. According to Kensington Palace, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Mr. and Mrs. Middleton and Pippa Middleton all popped by to visit the newborn.
Prince Charles even gave onlookers a wave while driving out of Kensington Palace with wife, Camilla.
As for Prince Harry, he was recently spotted getting into the festive spirit at an AFL rugby game in Perth, Australia the same day his niece was born.
