Unlicensed dentist Valentyn Uvarov's patients warned by Fraser Health

Health officials are warning patients of a Surrey, B.C., man posing as a dentist that he was practising dentistry without a licence and clients may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B and C, or other blood-borne infections due to non-sterile equipment.

Valentyn Uvarov was providing dental treatments at 14275 62 Avenue in Surrey, according to an investigation by the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C.

The investigation identified concerning practices — that may have exposed patients to diseases — such as potentially reusing anaesthetic containers, according to a release from the Fraser Health Authority.

Anyone who received dental treatments from Uvarov is advised to talk to their health care provider or call the B.C. Nurses line at 8-1-1.
