Edmonton police accused of assault causing bodily harm in incident last June

EDMONTON - An Edmonton police constable has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The police service says Nathan Downing was charged Tuesday.

Downing is alleged to have assaulted someone on duty during an arrest on June 10, 2014.

Police say no further details will be released.

Downing is a six-year veteran and has been taken off front-line duties.

The police service's professional standards branch did an investigation, and that was reviewed by Alberta Justice.
