Li Zhao charged with cutting up dead body in West Vancouver

A West Vancouver man is expected to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon to face charges for allegedly cutting up a dead body, following the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man over the weekend.

Li Zhao, 54, has been charged with improperly or indecently interfering with, or offering an indignity to, a dead human body or human remains by cutting up the body.

Police have released very few details about the case, but they have indicated Zhao could face more charges as the investigation continues.

They have not said where the body was found, who the victim was, and where Zhao was arrested.

Investigators have revealed they first received reports of a "violent confrontation" at the home on the 900 block of King Georges Way late on Saturday night.

Officers then secured the home and arrested Zhao on Sunday morning.
