Mounties say the vehicle drove off the road and hit a hydro pole at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The 52-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and two children, ages six and eight, were taken to hospital and later released.
Police say early reports indicate that the man experienced a medical emergency while he was driving.
A traffic analyst's report and a mechanical inspection of the car are pending.
RCMP are not releasing the identity of the man who died.
