The library is more than a place for books and storytime these days. It's now a hive for making music videos and recording podcasts — at least in Vancouver anyway.
The Vancouver Public Library opened its Inspiration Lab on Tuesday. Vancouverites now have free access to technology they can use to create movies, music, animation, e-books, and photos — and all you need is your library card.
The downtown space offers 3,000 sq.-ft. of soundproof booths.
One room is equipped with a video camera, LED lights, control room, 18-channel mixer and a full-on green screen for creating music videos.
Another studio has two microphones for recording podcasts or live interviews.
You can use 12 computers with editing software, as well as programs to convert your analog videos to digital ones.
(Look! The view isn't bad, either.)
The library is giving special tours until the end of May, as well as one-on-one sessions to help get visitors' projects rolling.
Later this year, the digital hub will welcome experts in film, game development and digital design to give week-long boot camps and workshops to really get the creative cogs turning.
Pretty neat, we must say!
