Awareness around the benefits of breast milk has grown significantly over the past decade, which has caused a booming business to emerge: the sale of breast milk. But questions regarding the legitimacy of breast milk banks and other online markets have parents concerned.
Researchers say that buying human milk from unscreened sources can put infants at risk. In one instance, it was found that 10 per cent of sampled breast milk sold online was contaminated with cow’s milk.
