Martine Dugrenier, world champion wrestler, to retire

Olympian and three-time world champion wrestler Martine Dugrenier will announce her retirement on Wednesday, CBC has learned.

Dugrenier, 35, reached the podium at the Wrestling World Championships six times in her career including three consecutive gold medals in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

She competed at the Olympic's twice, finishing fifth in Bejing in 2008 and fifth in London in 2012.

Dugrenier told the CBC's Douglas Gelevan that while she retiring from competition, she is still planning to stay involved in high level wrestling as a coach.

She says he is also planning to finish her Masters degree in education.

Dugrenier is currently employed as a physical education teacher at Montreal's Vanier College.
