Merouane Ghalmi, accused of breaking peace bond conditions, released

A 22-year-old Montreal man accused of breaking one of the conditions of a terror-related peace bond has been released.

Merouane Ghalmi appeared in court this morning.

In March, he signed a peace bond subjecting him to certain conditions because the RCMP believed it was possible he may commit a terrorist offence.

Ghalmi was arrested last week for allegedly violating one of those conditions.

He was released on bail today with new conditions, including agreeing to stay at his home in Pierrefonds and cutting all internet access.

All evidence in the case is subject to a publication ban.

The case is due back in court June 11.
