NAIN, N.L. - Health officials are reporting an outbreak of tuberculosis in northern Labrador.
Since last October, 14 people have been diagnosed with the infectious disease in Nain.
Two more cases have been reported in other parts of Labrador.
Medical officer Dr. David Allison says most of those affected are between the ages of 20 and 40.
Allison says people exposed to the illness may not show symptoms for weeks, months or even years.
Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease characterized by the growth of nodules in the body, especially the lungs.
