Alberta man arrested for impaired driving after fatal collision with motorcycle

RED DEER, Alta. - A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Red Deer, Alta.

RCMP say the crash happened early Wednesday evening as the truck was making a left turn at an intersection and collided with the oncoming bike.

A 44-year-old man from Springbook, Alta., who was operating the motorcycle, died at the scene despite attempts by witnesses to resuscitate him.

Police say the victim was wearing a helmet.

A 30-year-old man who was in the truck was arrested at the scene for impaired driving causing death, although charges are still being sorted out.

Police have not released any names.
