Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi Sings 'Let It Go' To Make Good On Playoff Bet

WATCH: Nenshi Belts Out 'Let It Go'

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is a lot of things — Best Mayor In The World, social media superstar, Harvard grad — but he proved today that he is definitely not a vocalist.

To make good on a bet he lost to the mayor of Anaheim, Calif. earlier this month, when the Calgary Flames were ousted from the NHL playoffs by the Ducks, Nenshi stood up in council Monday to sing "Let It Go,' the mega-popular song from Disney's "Frozen."

And it's a good thing he called in a supporting chorus line, because Nenshi is a pretty terrible singer. Even his sister, Shaheen, expressed her hesitation before the performance:

Nenshi was brave enough to start out the tune on this own (he begins singing around 1:15 in the video above), wavering through a few lines of the Idina Menzel tune, before a cast of local choirs and artists arrived to back him up.

The Calgary Children's Choir, REVV 52, On Cue, Cowtown Opera, the Calgary Stampede Showband, beatboxer James "Peterpot” McInnis, and The Heebee-Jeebees helped pump up the performance and add some much needed pitch.

"It takes a community to embarrass a mayor," Nenshi said after the performance.

To be fair, Nenshi was nervous about the performance from the get-go.

"I’m a reasonably fearless guy," he told reporters earlier this month.

"I like to speak in public, I like to take risks, I like to cliff-dive. The one thing that I am absolutely terrified of is singing in public, so wish me luck over the next couple of weeks."
