Toronto Stock Exchange down slightly on energy and materials sectors

TORONTO - The Toronto Stock Exchange ticked slightly lower in late-morning trading as the energy and materials sectors gave up ground.The S&P/TSX composite lost 5.42 points to trade for 15,195.34.The drop on the Toronto market came as the price of oil slipped lower. The July futures contract for crude oil was down 30 cents at US$59.42.The Canadian dollar was unchanged at 81.29 cents U.S.U.S. stock markets are closed for the Memorial Day holiday.In corporate news, Barrick Gold has signed a deal to sell its Cowal mine in Australia to Evolution Mining for US$550 million.
