Courthouse packages not criminal or harmful, Manitoba RCMP say

RCMP say there was nothing criminal about 16 packages that arrived at Manitoba courthouses in April.

The suspicious packages caused courthouse evacuations across the province, but those packages have all been tested and came back negative for harmful substances, according to RCMP.

The packages were court-related paperwork sent by a Chinese national, but they did not have standing in Canadian courts, RCMP said.

Other similar packages have been received at courthouses across Canada in recent weeks, and Manitoba RCMP said the national investigation into those packages is continuing.
