Disney Recycled Animation Scenes Will Blow Your Mind

Disney proves just how strongly it believes in recycling -- animation scenes included!

If you ever thought the waltzing scene in “Beauty and the Beast” looked oddly familiar, that’s because it is! A fan-made YouTube video has been blowing everyone’s minds by showing how frequently Disney recycled animated footage.

“They would draw over existing animation cells to make new scenes with characters with similar designs, characteristics, and movements,” the video’s caption reads. “This is also known as rotoscoping.”

The company used this technique to help cut costs of animators and was used in more Disney classics than you can imagine! Like remember Baloo from “The Jungle Book” and Little John from “Robin Hood”? Not only did these two characters share the same voice actor, Phil Harris, but they were also drawn quite similarly. In each of their films, they can be seen sporting the same dance moves as well.

And did you ever think Robin Hood’s Maid Marion moved strikingly similar to Snow White? The video above shows us how often these recycled scenes have popped up in our favourite films, including “Sleeping Beauty” and “The Aristocrats.” Prepare to have your minds blown!
