Transit referendum: Last chance to vote today

It's the final countdown for Metro Vancouver transit referendum voters, who have until 8 p.m. PT Friday to submit their completed ballots.

Those votes will determine whether there will be a 0.5 per cent increase in the region's sales tax to pay the municipal share of a $7.5-billion transit improvement plan.

It is too late to mail in ballots, which must now be delivered by the deadline to one of the nine plebiscite offices in the Lower Mainland.

The offices, located in various malls, are open only during business hours, and the completed ballot packages must be received by Elections BC correctly completed and packaged, or the ballot will not count.

The offices are located in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Richmond and Langley.
