Glen Abbey hosting next two Canadian Opens

Glen Abbey Golf Club will be the home of the Canadian Open, the Canadian men's national golf championship, for 2016 as well as hosting the tournament from July 20-26, 2015, Golf Canada and RBC announced on Monday.

The Jack Nicklaus-designed layout will host the championship in back-to-back years for the first time since 2008 and 2009. The dates of the 2016 tournament are July 18-24.

"Glen Abbey has always been a terrific host venue for this championship and we look forward to reconnecting with fans and volunteers from Oakville and the Greater Toronto Area who have embraced the RBC Canadian Open over the years," said Golf Canada CEO Scott Simmons.

"With its storied history, beautiful greens and central location Glen Abbey has proven to be a premiere venue to host players and golf fans alike," said Jane Broderick, chief brand and communications officer for RBC.

The Canadian Open was last held at Glen Abbey in 2013 when Brandt Snedeker who his sixth professional title. That year's tournament was selected the most fan friendly event by the PGA Tour.

The 2015 tournament will once again raise money in support of Ronald McDonald Charities Canada.
