Princess Charlotte Christening: Details Have Been Revealed

On Friday, Kensington Palace announced that Princess Charlotte will be christened soon!

On Friday, Kensington Palace announced that Princess Charlotte will be christened on Sunday, July 5. The private ceremony will take place at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. Rev. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, will conduct the service.

Welby also christened the princess’ older brother Prince George two years ago at St. James’ Palace. The service was a private affair, with only 23 guests in attendance.

BBC reports the Archbishop was “delighted” to have been asked to conduct the ceremony again. “It will be an extraordinary honour and privilege to help welcome the princess into the family of the church,” he said.

St. Mary Magdalene is on Sandringham Estate, which is also where the Duke and Duchess' home, Anmer Hall, is located.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their baby girl on May 2 at St. Mary's Hospital in London. Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, who is fourth in line to the British throne, is the couple’s second child. Their first born, Prince George, turns two on July 22.
