Roots Opens First Store In New York City

Now our friends south of the border can experience the magic of the Canadian brand's classic sweatpants.

Iconic Canadian retailer Roots is setting up shop in New York City.

The leisurewear brand, known for its super comfy sweatpants (seriously, the best things ever), leather goods and boots has opened its first store in Manhattan. The shop will be the first NYC location for the brand. Now our friends south of the border will finally get to experience the magic of Roots' original salt and pepper sweatpants.

The brand first announced they were expanding back in May, via Instagram.

According to Bowery Boogie, the storefront is located at 228 Elizabeth St., right by the new Tom's store, Wolverine, and Agent Provocateur's less expensive, L'Agent.

The 600-square-foot store will also apparently have it's own concept and will feature a rotating display of collections, including leather favourites and one-off collabs. It will also have its very own e-commerce store.

The Canadian company celebrated the launch of the new store, which opened to the public this week, with a contest. People were told to find the storefront and share a photo of it on Instagram with the hashtag #RootsNewYork for the chance to win a $500 gift card.

Happy shopping, New York friends!
